Remedial Electrolysis
This term sounds medical and formal but can apply
to any form of unwanted superfluous hair removal, by short wave diathermy, galvanism
or the blend types of electrolysis.
It originates from hospital clinics, treating hair initiated by unusual causes.
It was intended to distinguish this type of treatment from the more cosmetic hair
removal.
However these days both the psychological and physical effects of any unwanted
hair growth is better understood and ãremedial electrolysisä is an all embracing
term. It can refer to treating hair growth caused by Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome,
Trans Gender clients, fine upper lip hair or strong beard growth. Numerous areas
of the body can be treated from toes to hairlines.
It also encompasses removal or treatment of conditions other than just hair. Skin
tags and a variety of extra cellular skin lesions can be removed from the body.
Vascular conditions such as broken capillaries and spider naevi can also be treated.
A variety of areas of the face and/ or body can be treated.
The term remedial electrolysis also reflects the skill and expertise of the operator.
There are such a variety of levels of training or education on offer in the field
of hair and skin condition treatment. ãRemedial electrolysisä has become synonymous
with depth of knowledge, highly skilled operators dedicated to continuing their
own studies in this field and keeping up to date with new technology and techniques
on the market.
Often these Electrolysists have undertaken a basic training and then studied further
to earn diplomas from professional organisations such as the BIAE. These examinations
are rigorous in setting standards of excellence and have gained the attention
and respect of the medical profession. Many of the BIAE operators have worked
with doctors and successfully treated areas and conditions of the body that might
not otherwise have been attempted or considered contra-indications.
Electrolysists within the BIAE have now developed courses to teach colleagues
in order to perpetuate these skills and as new technology develops these will
also become part of the repertoire of the Electrolysists.
Potential clients are advised to look for experienced and skilled Electrolysists
who display current practising certificates and diplomas. They should be interested
in being successful for their clients in all aspects of remedial electrolysis.
